Sector Development

Each period VCT selects a promising sector in Vietnam, in which Netherlands companies have a leading role in the world to focus on. VCT does this after careful investigation of the market potential and establishing good contacts in Vietnam and the EU. VCT cooperates with the trade associations and governmental organizations to organize business seminars, collective trade fair participation, trade missions, publish newsletters and set up pilot investments and/or demonstration projects to transfer technology and know-how. Upon request VCT provides follow up and visit your potential Vietnamese clients to develop new commercial or investment projects.

With this sectorial approach, VCT has achieved in the past years considerable experience and success within the sectors such as seafood and aquaculture, agriculture commodities, special equipments, education and training, maritime and textiles.

Energy

VCT is the initiator and the coordinator of AETIN (Advanced Energy Technology INternational - www.aetin.eu). It is a Public Private Partnership, financed by The Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation - through NL Agency's program 2g@there - and the 18 founding members of AETIN. These members are the leading Netherlands research institutes and companies active in the international energy market. By joining forces all together, AETIN offer advanced expertise, technology and solutions to oil & gas projects in Vietnam. AETIN started in 2011 and is coordinated by VCT from its offices in both Vietnam and The Netherlands.

Maritime

VCT has cooperated with Holland Marine Equipment (HME) in the beginning VCT did market research, organized business seminars, promotional activities and trade missions to Vietnam. Later on, VCT assists HME's individual members with business development in Vietnam. VCT has successfully developed business in the maritime sector in Vietnam for Netherlands and Vietnamese companies. Within four years, VCT’s clients have ordered more than 100 vessels in Vietnam, four joint ventures and 3 local offices have been established and 7 projects have been granted with subsidies/grants. 70+ Netherlands maritime equipment suppliers are selling their products in Vietnam.

 

Education

VCT has over 15 years experience in educational projects, business consultancy and training.

Our staff was advisor and guest lecturer for various programs at universities of professional education, for instance at program ‘Trade Management aimed at Asia’ at Rotterdam Business School, Hogeschool Zeeland and Hogeschool Drenthe (nowadays Stenden University).

We have advised a large number of Dutch universities of professional education in Vietnam.

3 local staff of VCT in Vietnam have been graduated in Hanoi University of Education, they have been lecturers for a long time, recently are trainers for the pre-university courses, organized by VCT and our partners.

VCT has set up various partnerships for Dutch and Vietnamese universities. Please see pictures below for examples.

VCT has assisted and enabled various partnerships between Dutch and Vietnamese universities. For instance partnerships between Rotterdam Business School and University of Economics Hochiminh City, and Institute of International Relations in Hanoi.

In the field of tourism and hospitality, VCT has arranged co-operation between Saigon Tourism Hospitality College (STHC) with ROC Wageningen and Dobla, a famous manufacturer of chocolate decorations, with factory in the Netherlands, Belgium, USA and Vietnam. Dobla is one of VCT’s clients. The result is ‘Dobla Pastry Academy’, in Vung Tau, Vietnam. Dobla Pastry Academy trains not only staff and personnel of Dobla, but also for the entire hospitality sector in Vietnam, please see picture below.

VCT invites experts from various industry to train local partners, to give guest lectures. For instance: Norit, Pentair, Wassenburg, Evides Industriewater and Marin.

VCT has arranged meeting, communication and preparation of MoU, which has been signed by two rectors (Prof K.C.A.M. Luyben and Assoc. Prof Le Phuoc Hao) during Energy Forum, which has been organized by VCT in September 2011, witnessed by Dutch Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Verhagen and Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

VCT is very knowledgeable about the brokering the right type of cooperation between knowlegde institutes, either private or state controlled, and private companies.

The cultural background of VCT’s staff enables an effective approach in setting up educationalcooperation between Dutch and Asian knowledge institutions even further. Moreover, its wide experience as a successful business consultancy firm has learnt VCT staff extensive insight in the business culture of (Dutch) international companies, and thus what kind of service they expect in a hospitality environment. Finally, VCT has a very intricate international network of schools, universities, educational brokers and other stakeholders. This network enables VCT to attract top-speakers for training purposes, attract the right companies for internship and giving advice about the right mix of theory and practices for training program.

For our insights and expertise, we are often requested to organize study tours for high ranked delegations from Asia to EU or from EU to Asia.

Technology Transfer

In 35 investment projects and dozens commercial projects of our clients, European advanced technology in different sectors have been transferred to local Vietnamese partners. Through such projects - both partners learn to develop and improve their strengths and to explore new market potential. Local staffs and management in Vietnam will receive suitable training – aiming for high standard and quality requirements from the most difficult clients.

From high-end medical equipment to maritime, from engineering to soft-skills such as communication, marketing and branding, our European and Vietnamese clients are working in setting high business standard for their sectors.
