Energy Trade Mission Vietnam 28/2 to 7/3/2013 and 10th ASCOPE

Friday, January 11, 2013

 Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Vietnamese economy grew last year with 5,3% (5,5 % in 2013 est.) and will become the 14th largest economy in 2050 (according to PWC’s report), the country is now the third largest oil producer in the SEA region and has become an active petroleum prospecting region.

Capital expenditure in the Vietnamese oil & gas sector will remain high as exploration success is on the rise in Vietnam. Recently, seven new oil fields were discovered and five new oil wells were put into production including three in Vietnam and two abroad.

Vietnam’s oil and gas “Master Plan Toward 2015 and Vision to 2025” will require an investment of $200 billion, of which Petrovietnam’s share will be $80 billion. In 2010, the country’s first refinery started operation, the second and third refinery and petrochemical complex are scheduled to come on-stream in 2014 and 2015. Recently approved national master plan for power development needs $120 billion investment.

Dung Quat Refinery will be expanded, Nghi Son Refinery project and Long Son Petrochemical are in progress. Nam Van Phong refinery will double capacity and Vung Ro Refinery project is progressing.

In the midstream and upstream: PV Oil, PV Gas, Vietsovpetro, Chevron and other MNC’s are starting new projects.

Vietnam offers therefore a huge potential for Dutch companies active in oil & gas, power generation and energy sector.

Since September 2011, Vietnam Consult & Trading BV (VCT) has organized a number activities (Energy Forum, Trade Missions, Holland Pavillion, Seminars and mini-missions) on behalf of AETIN (www.aetin.eu) – a 2g@there consortium initiated and led by VCT and supported by Dutch government. These activities have been successful and a network between AETIN members and Vietnamese counterparts has started to develop. Within this network members of AETIN are starting to do business with prospects and clients.

Following up the first successful year, AETIN has decided to organize a mission to Vietnam from 28/2 to 7/3/2013. We, as VCT, will again organize this mission and invite you to participate.

During the mission, we will meet and discuss with companies like:

Networking receptions: in Hanoi and Hochiminh City we will work together with Netherlands Embassy and Consulate General to organize networking receptions. In addition to relevant contacts of Embassy, Consulate General and VCT, you can also invite your contacts to these events.

The proposed program for you is not only a quite large and interesting program, but also the opportunity to have both collective (whole delegation or subgroups) and individual meetings with the Vietnamese companies. If you have specific requests, please inform us so that we comply with your preferences. We will optimize our collective and individual meetings together with you. The general approach will be that collective meetings are organized at every city, with a possibility to add individual meetings.

It is not stated specifically which date we will meet with which counterpart - because this depends on the counterpart as well and we are making appointments right now. If you have any other specific wishes, you are requested to provide us with list of companies and/or contacts that you would like to meet before January 18th, 2013. We will try to incorporate them in our program, after consultation with you. If you do not have any specific wishes, AETIN will fill in the entire program.
