Work starts on VND3 trillion high-tech agricultural project in Thai Binh

TH Group on February 24 held a groundbreaking ceremony for a high-tech agricultural project on producing organic vegetables, fruits and rice in Dung Nghia Commune, Vu Thu District, Thai Binh Province.
 
The project has over VND3 trillion (US$132 million) of investment and covers a total production area of around 3,000ha, including 1,000ha for the production of fruits and vegetables and 2,000ha for the production of rice.
 
The group will run a closed production chain including cultivation, harvest, packaging and distribution, among others.
 
The land for the project is rented from local farmers and the group will create favourable conditions in which for local households having leased land to work for the project.
 
TH Chairwoman Thai Huong said that agricultural products will be produced to meet Global GAP and Organic standards without chemical fertilisers, chemical pesticides, growth stimulus chemicals, preservatives and genetically modified seeds.
 
The highlight of the project is the combination of high-tech agricultural products and eco-tourism, which is expected to increase the value of the agricultural sector and promote the cultural identity of the nation, Huong noted.
 
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung noted that he appreciated TH Group for investing in this high-tech agricultural project, which will pave the way for more enterprises to invest in this area.
 
He told localities to continue to improve the investment environment and accumulate land to serve large-sized agricultural projects. He also called on enterprises to invest in high-tech agriculture to increase the added value for the agricultural sector while creating more jobs for local people.
